Federer blows away Korean giant killer for Aussie Open final

The South Korean had taken a medical timeout earlier in the second set to receive treatment on his foot.

That time-out briefly rallied Chung, in just his 17th major match, to win the next game but he was soon forced to yield to Federer, who was making his 382nd Grand Slam outing.

The occasion will mark Federer's 30th appearance in a grand slam final where he will try to become the third oldest Australian Open champion behind Ken Rosewall (37 years, 62 days) and Mal Anderson (36 years, 206 days) by racking up his sixth title at Melbourne Park.

In nine meetings with Cilic, Federer has lost only once, in the semi-finals of the 2014 US Open, when the Croatian won his only Grand Slam title. "We got to know each other better, and Roger is an incredible guy and a big inspiration for most of the players".

"I don't think he will be intimidated by Federer's aura, but more because of his game, his style and how quick he plays, he won't have much time to think out there", Wilander said. I think in the US Open that was just fantastic tennis that I played. "I'm playing much, much more aggressive - feeling really excited about the final, too". "I like those attitudes", Federer concluded on The Independent on January 26, 2018.

The Korean tennis player suffered the nearly identical injury Marin Čilić faced in the final of last year's Wimbledon, which he played against Federer.

"Which I think is good", he said.

"I definitely think him winning the US Open, like Stan (Wawrinka) winning here a few years ago, it gave them great belief they can do it", said Federer.

Spielberg to remake 'West Side Story'
We recently reported that Spielberg had narrowed down his next project to two possibilities: West Side Story and Indiana Jones 5 . Unforeseen delays also always occur in production, so don't hold your breath for a release date to be announced anytime soon.

It was a sad ending to an inspiring Australian Open campaign in which the world No. 58 defeated a number of big names on his way to the final four.

"I was told Marin was coming".

It would be the second time for Federer at the Australian Open after powering through the 2007 event without losing a set.

With his charismatic personality and unique on-court glasses, the 21-year-old Chung has been the breakout star of this year's Australian Open. Federer's off-season included a random training work-out with Cilic in the Maldives in November after the pair, unbeknown to each other beforehand, were uncannily holidaying on the same Indian Ocean island. Because he has played so many matches in a row, I think that's why'.

The Korean will have bigger and better days at slams in the future but this was a hard experience from the moment he dropped serve in the opening game.

"Please understand. I wish all the best luck for @rogerfederer in the finals". Federer is 8-1 against Cilic. Federer is now only one match away from capturing a sixth Australian Open title, which would represent also his 20th Grand Slam championship crown.

Federer was asked if there was any part of his game that he would have to improve in the final.
