He stated that the ESPN report's accusations that he mishandled anything were false and that the resignation rumors were "absolutely false". "I am here tonight to tell you that any accusations on my handling of any complaints of sexual assault individually are false".

After expressing sympathies with the survivors of former Team USA gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar's abuse, he said "every incident reported in that article was documented by police or the MI state Title IX office".

Friday's report came a day after its Outside the Lines unit broke the news that "MSU officials in 2014 did not notify federal officials that the university had dual Title IX and campus police investigations of Nassar under way even though federal investigators were on campus that year scrutinizing how MSU dealt with sexual assault allegations".

Later, Walton and two other basketball players were accused of sexual assault by a female MSU student.

"I'm not going anywhere, in my mind", he said.

Asked if he is concerned about the future of the university and his team, Izzo said, "No. And I want to be a big part about helping it heal".

According to Lauren Allswede, a former MSU sexual assault counselor at the school, one of the main problems at the school has been the handling of accusations.

A report from ESPN's "Outside the Lines" revealed allegations of widespread and systemic mishandling of sexual assault allegations within the Michigan State University athletic department.

Izzo is in his 23rd season as Michigan State's head coach, posting a 560-223 record while leading the Spartans to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last 20 seasons, including seven Final Four appearances and one national championship in 2000.
