Users can also take advantage of Cortana, which is integrated into the smart thermostat, to control GLAS. The thermostat runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410E processor, and it's powered by Windows IoT Core which allows it to utilize Microsoft's Azure IoT cloud platform as well. That's a steep price even in the context of smart thermostats from rivals like the Nest Learning thermostat, which costs $249/£279 (around AU$317), but in this case looks are every bit as part of the appeal as function.

GLAS lets users set temperature, check the weather and monitor indoor and outdoor air quality. Unfortunately, Cortana still can't differentiate between devices, so it's entirely likely that when you say the above statement, your thermostat will adjust the temperature, but your Invoke will say something about how it can't do that. You can also use it to manage your calendar, check the weather, traffic reports, and pretty much anything else that Cortana can do.

Unfortunately, the device is launching with Android Nougat , instead of Oreo , with an expected reveal date of January 15th. The company has put up a post on Weibo asking fans to "save the date", and tipping asking users to keep their "Eye" open.

The thermostat can learn your preferred settings and your daily routine, intelligently detecting when the user is home and adjust the temperature accordingly. "Given that we invented the room thermostat back in the late 1800s, it's something that Johnson Controls is naturally oriented to do". It'll be compatible with gas, oil, and electric heating, along with ground-, air-, and water-source heat pumps, and has dual-fuel support for heat pumps. An auxiliary output can control humidifiers, dehumidifiers, ventilators, energy recovery ventilators, or heat recovery ventilators. The GLAS thermostat is available for pre-order in March and retails at a price of $319 Dollars. It's priced at $319.
