Boy's murder: 1 more detained

After the initial investigation and examining the CCTV footage, the police claimed that Tusshar was allegedly beaten to death inside the toilet by four students.

Three minors have been apprehended in connection with the mysterious death of a Class 9 student in northeast Delhi's Karawal Nagar, police said today.

Of the four accused students, three were detained on Friday, while one of the accused was on the run. In the CCTV footage, 5 students including the deceased were seen fighting inside the washroom. "He fell unconscious and was taken to the hospital as soon as the school came to know of it", a teacher from the school told the newspaper. "He was later referred to the GTB Hospital where he was declared brought dead", police said. "After scanning the CCTV footage, we transferred the case registered under Section 304 to Section 302 (murder)".

He was detained from Khajuri Khas, police said. We found that he had a fight with 4 students. We have apprehended the three juveniles in this case. The boy's family also alleged that school authorities were trying to shield the students he had a fight with. The police is reported to be questioning his classmates and the students who had found him in an unconscious state in the bathroom.

The local MLA of Karawal Nagar, Kapil Mishra, said, "I have written a letter to Education Minister Manish Sisodia and have asked him to give immediate compensation of Rs 1 crore to the bereaved parents", he said. Tushar's family members alleged that he died after being thrashed by the students.

The school authorities, however, have claimed the boy was suffering from diarrhoea, which led to his death, and the police said they did not find any injuries on the boy's body.

The body has been sent for post-mortem.
