Det. Sgt. Hank Idsinga announced on Monday that police found human remains at a Toronto home linked to the accused.

"The city of Toronto has never seen anything like this", Idsinga said.

Idsinga has been adamant that he expects more victims will be found.

Alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur was under police surveillance when officers were forced to make a quick decision to enter his home and arrest him, believing a life could be in danger, police sources confirm to the Star.

Police revealed that all five of the known victims were of a Middle Eastern background with links to the area of Church and Wellesley, Toronto's gay village. The city's LGBT community had "raised concerns for months about a series of disappearances around the Village", says the BBC, but police played down the claims in December, suggesting their was "no evidence to support that theory".

Sources have told the Toronto Sun McArthur was taken into custody after cops kicked down the door of his 19th-floor Thorncliffe Park apartment because they were concerned for the well-being of a "young man" inside - a man who was allegedly found tied up on a bed. Another alleged victim, Dean Lisowick, was never reported missing and is believed to have been killed in 2016 or 2017.

"It seems like from the evidence that the police are gathering that (a suspect) had given a lot of thought into what the best way might be to hide bodies so that these cases would never become a serial homicide chain, that they would always remain as missing persons cases", Lee alleged.

Putin apologized to the athletes
This year's event is expected to surpass the largest Winter Olympics held in Sochi in 2014, where 2,858 athletes from 88 countries had participated.

'We have seized quite a few planters from around the city and we will continue to do that.

Another investigation in search of information on two other missing men (Selim Esen, 44, and Andrew Kinsman, 49) traced common connections back to McArthur. Kinsman and Esen both went missing a year ago.

People originally reported them missing at separate times previous year. Kayhan disappeared in 2012 and Mahmudi disappeared in 2015, police said.

Another 30 or so sites where McArthur may have done landscaping work have been located and investigators are combing through them for clues as to whether there are other victims.

"I looked and I saw Bruce and I said to him, 'Hey Bruce, what are you doing throwing out boulders or rocks outside in the garbage chute?' I said, 'Bruce, it's two o'clock in the morning, you are waking us all up, '" the resident said. "If there is an indication from the canine units that there is some decomposition around that planter we will grab it", Idsinga said on Wednesday. "It encompasses more than the gay community".

Police in Canada have accused a Toronto landscaper of murdering at least five people and burying their remains in large flower planters on his clients' properties, in a case that has sparked an "unprecedented" investigation.
