According to NFL.com, wide receiver Amendola will sign with the Dolphins when the new league year begins on Wednesday on a two-year deal worth around $12million. No terms on the deal have been reported.

Losing Amendola has a minimal effect on the Patriots offense - in the regular season. He was one of Tom Brady's favorite targets in the playoffs, coming down with numerous clutch third-down catches, not to mention both of the team's fourth quarter touchdowns in New England's comeback win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Championship Game. The team is also reportedly signing Chiefs slot receiver Albert Wilson. When the financial figures are released, it might be easier to understand why they declined to match the offer for a player who couldn't fill a fulltime role for the length of the year.

Amendola, 32, spent five seasons with the Patriots, compiling 230 catches for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns. Wilson and Amendola would replace three-time Pro Bowl receiver Jarvis Landry, whom the Dolphins have agreed to trade to the Cleveland Browns for two draft picks. In his 9-year career, he's compiled more than 4,100 yards and 19 touchdowns. The deal can not be officially signed until March 14, which is the start of the new league year.
