Marco Reus extends Borussia Dortmund contract to 2023

With AP Photos.Germany forward Marco Reus has extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund by four years to 2023. I am happy and proud to announce today that I will continue to wear it. Since I was a child I dreamt of wearing black and yellow and to play for this club.

The 28-year-old Reus said Friday his decision was made in part to thank Dortmund fans and club officials, who backed him despite many injury setbacks over the years.

'We are delighted that he chose to extend his contract early and for a long term despite past offers from the world's best clubs, ' said Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke. "At this point it is important to me to say thank you". Since then he has had a hand in over 100 Bundesliga goals for the club, scoring 92 times in all competitions and putting Borussia 1-0 ahead on an incredible 39 occasions.

Last month, Reus returned after nearly eight months out with a knee injury.

"Marco makes every team better", said sporting director Michael Zorc. He is a cornerstone of our attack and furthermore a face of this club.

Watze said: "Although the best clubs in the world have made offers to him again and again in the past, he has chose to extend his contract". "I have a special relationship with him, and he's shown the utmost degree of dedication to this club, of which we're very proud".
