The Florida State men's basketball has earned the No. 9 seed in the West Region and will play No. 8 seeded Missouri in its first game of the 2018 NCAA Tournament at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., on Friday, March 16. The Tigers were upset in the first round of the SEC Tournament this week, and looked lost offensively.

Florida State had an overall record of 20-11, going 9-9 in ACC play.

Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton has been with the Seminoles for 16 years (since 2002).

"I was praying to God we didn't end up in Wichita", he said. That's a big chunk of playing time and production for Cuonzo Martin to replace in the Big Dance. The Tigers' program was so irrelevant, so far from the tournament bubble and not even an afterthought on selection Sunday, when 68 teams are chosen and seeded for the sport's showcase event. The game featured superstar freshman Michael Porter, Jr.

A spokesman for the University of Missouri Police Department announced Barnett was arrested at 3:26 a.m. local time for failure to drive in a single lane and suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

That's part of what will make this matchup a fascinating measure of the program's progress, and in a sense a microcosm of the season.

Barnett, MU's second-leading scorer, can travel with the team, Martin said. The victor of that game will likely play No. 1 Xavier on Sunday. Meanwhile, one of their star players is now out for the game because he got a DWI the weekend ahead of the tournament. "We've managed to get to this point".

Potentially losing Barnett would be devastating to Mizzou's NCAA Tournament chances.
