Firmware update 5.0.0 for Nintendo Switch is out now and introduces a number of changes. Now the real firmware 5.0.0 is here and its a rather boring update with no major new features.

The new system update also enables users to add specific software titles to their whitelist using the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app. Facebook and Twitter friends that also use Nintendo Switch can now be added through Friend Suggestions and digital software purchases made from a PC or smart device will start downloading sooner than previously, even if the Nintendo Switch console is in Sleep Mode.

The Switch Parental Controls app - allowing users to access Parental Controls for their console - has been updated to v1.5 on iOS (and presumably soon to Android).

Still on Parental Controls, Nintendo has changed the default method for typing Parental Controls PIN.

Nintendo Switch has continue d to evolve with the system software updates it gets occasionally. Nintendo has also teased that it is possible to get the recording time up to 15 minutes so this can also be implemented with a future firmware update. When a bedtime alarm is set, play will be restricted from the set time until 06:00 the following day. Once the download is complete though, they need to manually install the update.

YoYo Games have signed a deal with Nintendo to add Nintendo Switch support to their 2D game development engine, GameMaker Studio 2.
