Nearly three years after it was first announced, Rare's new co-op multiplayer pirate adventure Sea of Thieves is finally in players' hands.and somewhat predictably, it's neither the audacious home-run its fans were hoping for, not the utter trainwreck more cynical observers were perhaps expecting.

"We are aware that temporarily not being able to access the game, or seeing any of the problems listed below, can cause huge frustration".

There are a lot of reports of Sea of Thieves servers being down, with Microsoft confirming problems are being looked at. More notably, it's the first game to launch day and date through Xbox Game Pass.

Updated: Sea of Thieves Executive Producer Joe Neate responded to IGN's request for comment regarding player concerns about the longevity of Sea of Thieves' now available content and specifically cosmetic items.

According to Rare, Sea of Thieves saw 3-4 times more concurrent players than during any of the scale tests or beta sessions.

All smiles: NHS staff pay rise backed by Unions
The proposed deal could benefit around 1.3 million workers across the United Kingdom including porters, nurses and paramedics . Governments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will decide themselves whether to roll out the same pay rise.

Rare took to Twitter to acknowledge the issues, stating that "In order to resolve the issues players are seeing with the servers, we will be temporarily suspending new players joining the game. We have worked with our community throughout the development of Sea of Thieves, and that will continue in exactly the same manner beyond launch".

" "'Sea of Thieves' is already such an immersive game by design, so it's only fitting we give fans the chance to get their very own shanties from a real-life pirate band. We should be posting our review in progress of the game sometime next week.

Reddit user /u/OhLookItsJake thinks that the issue may be down to players changing servers to play the game early before changing back once the game launched in their region.

The most powerful console around is just $420 at Monoprice today.
