System outage at Air Canada causes delays at Calgary airport

Air Canada travelers have taken to Twitter in frustration over the service interruption.

Officials say they have implemented temporary measures to "maintain a limited operation" while the airline's IT department works to identify the issue and restore service.

Air Canada customers in Canada and overseas took to Twitter to complain of long lines, flight delays and other travel disruptions because of the computer problems.

"Today's computer issues have had a wide impact on our customers and we apologize for any inconvenience".

Others were slightly delayed and the airport referred travellers needing immediate assistance to contact Air Canada at 1-905-671-7769 or through the Air Canada Jazz website, flyjazz.ca.

Those at the Regina Airport who are either leaving or flying out on an Air Canada flight may want to check on the status of their flight.

Departing passengers were being checked in manually, with some people tweeting pictures of their handwritten boarding passes.

Air Canada is also increasing the frequency of its flights from Calgary to Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Phoenix, and from Vancouver to Phoenix and Palm Springs.
