President Donald Trump has replaced Rex Tillerson at Secretary of State with Central Intelligence Agency director Mike Pomeo, after months of speculation surrounding Tillerson's role in the Trump administration.

USA stock index futures pared their gains and the dollar also trimmed gains versus the yen while extending losses versus the euro amid the news. "He will do a fantastic job!" the president tweeted. He added, "I want to thank Rex Tillerson for his service".

Trump said he is nominating CIA Director Mike Pompeo to replace Tillerson. "Congratulations to all!" he tweeted.

Ms Haspel in a statement also said she was excited for her promotion. "His leadership has made America safer and I look forward to representing him and the American people to the rest of the world to further America's prosperity".

Trump's suprise announcement took place less than four hours after Tillerson's flight landed.

The midfielder missed the 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday after suffering an injury in training on Friday. United are in a good run of form this season, and they seem to be getting hotter at the flawless time.

Both Pompeo and Haspel must be confirmed by the Senate.

Mr Trump thanked Mr Tillerson for his time working for the White House.

Last Thursday, Tillerson said it would be premature for Trump to hold talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. In October, NBC news reported that Tillerson called the president a "moron", something Tillerson never actually denied.

Tillerson is also deeply unpopular within the State Department for his imperious management style and disregard for the traditions of diplomacy, which has led to a steady level of attrition throughout his tenure.
