Lo and behold, YouTube for Android and iOS is finally gaining the elusive dark mode, reports The Verge.

Unfortunately for fans of YouTube's mobile app, the feature was initially only available to desktop users.

Google is adding an option for users to toggle the overwhelming white YouTube app dark with an update rolling out today. Regardless, we'll be letting you know the moment we catch wind of it going live.

'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' trailer is here
Assigning the task to Newt because "I can't move against Grindelwald; it has to be you". "It has to be you". Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is being directed by David Yates , from a screenplay by J.K.

To access the new theme, tap your account icon on the top right, select "Settings", then select "Dark Theme".

For those who like to watch YouTube in bed at night, this Dark theme will help keep brightness to a minimum, especially if you have a partner who is sensitive to light at night. Offering a dark theme on YouTube also makes sense from an aesthetic perspective because it gives the app a more cinematic feel. However, much like how a simple cup-holder in a auto can make or break a sale, a dark theme will prove a popular addition to the YouTube mix. It certainly is freaky that iOS is getting the dark theme before Android, given that YouTube and Android are both developed by Google.

The update is rolling out to iOS users today and should arrive soon for Android users.
