Zarif visits Islamabad for a three-day tour

The two officials further talked about issues of the Muslim world, facilitation of visiting Mashhad for Pakistani Shiites, multilateral economic cooperation to help promote peace and stability in the region, and the fight against terrorism and extremist groups and drug traffickers.

Zarif, who arrived early Monday morning, received a warm welcome by senior officials of the Foreign Ministry at Islamabad airport.

He is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and military chief General Qamar Javed Bajawa.

Radio Pakistan reported that a 30-member business delegation comprising representatives from economic, trade and business sectors is accompanying the Iranian foreign minister.

Mohammad Javad Zarif called on Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Parliament House Islamabad on Monday and discussed matters pertaining to bilateral relations and regional issues.

Muhammad Javad Zarif will also address the special sitting of Islamabad Institute of Strategic Studies titled 70 years of Pak, Iran Relationship and its Future.

Pakistani media quoted Zarif as saying that Iran's territory will not be used against Pakistan.

"We are ready to broaden cooperation in different areas of politics and economy and we are after stabilizing the shared borders of Iran and Pakistan", highlighted Mr. Asif.

"Trade with Iran has increased by USD1 billion", said Pakistan's foreign minister.
