"Since Monday, President Buhari has been holidaying in London and has been unable to discharge the functions of his office, in total disregard to the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution, disdain to Nigerians and flagrant abuse of his presidential office".

Nihi, who is the Chairman Kogi State chapter, NYCN, said it was time for all interested parties to return to the drawing board to strategise the way forward and let the people decide. So, I felt I should break the ice.

He lauded Buhari for the successes achieved so far in the area of security, anti-corruption fight, economy and social welfare. This was partially a function of the reliance on oil that saw us abandon the historical revenue collection systems and switch to a culture of sharing resources, rather than generating them. "The majority of Nigerians appreciate what we are doing, and that is why I am re-contesting", President Buhari said.

He said: "we have cut the importation of rice by about 90 per cent, saving billions of dollars in the process".

"But until we approve, no single amount can be taken from that account", the Adamawa lawmaker said. Even professionals have gone back to the land.

Western airstrikes unlikely to impact Assad's war machine
In her comments, May also alluded to a nerve agent attack in Britain last month on a former Russian spy and his daughter. Russian Federation has responded to last night's airstrikes on Syria, warning that there will be "consequences".

He said there's a platform being created where the achievements of the president's administration will be displayed for everyone to see.

On the war against insurgency, he stressed the need for continuous education of the people, "so that they can be free from religious manipulation", adding that no true religion advocates the hurting or killing of the innocent.

"My office and other relevant people are working on this important platform, we carefully and strategically designed it and everybody will be carried along and have a role to play".

Nihi, who addressed newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, said that the President's declaration had put to rest the speculations on whether he would run in the 2019 elections or not.
