Carroll's last minute equaliser puts Stoke on brink of relegation

Stoke City fans appear to be consigned to their fate after last night's 1-1 draw with West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Stoke opened the scoring after a moment to forget for World Cup hopeful Hart in front of watching England manager Gareth Southgate as he failed to hold a shot from Xherdan Shaqiri and Crouch was in the right place to convert from close-range.

There was very little quality on display in the first half, although both teams had chances to break the deadlock.

Stoke thought they had secured all three points and their first away win since October when substitute Peter Crouch knocked a loose ball into the back of the net after West Ham's England goalkeeper Joe Hart spilled a shot after 79 minutes.

Lambert said: "We've been playing really well and we are well in the fight".

"I don't think he will (slack off) now, because he knows what got the crowd from booing him to cheering him every week and becoming one of their heroes".

"You feel for Joe Hart after what was a good display at Chelsea - he kept West Ham in the game", said Sutton. We've had some really good games and we've just been really unfortunate with Lady Luck.

Andy Carroll's volley salvaged a point for Moyes' men but Hart will be in the spotlight after a second mistake in four games since being restored to the West Ham team. I didn't go over the top because I expect him to do that.

Since then though Stoke have collected just four points from the 36 available to them, they've lost their last four on the spin, and they are firmly rooted in the relegation zone six points from safety, effectively seven if you consider their goal difference. He's had a couple of weeks of running and bits of stuff.

Moyes was disappointed to see three efforts ruled out for offside but felt the third one surrounding Carroll, when he handled inside the area, could have gone in his side's favour. He is wondering if he is going to make a save and keep us in the tournament.

Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez will be hoping to continue their goal-scoring form; scoring three in their last two games between the pair.
