Day of Science set for Saturday

The main March for Science rally will take place in Washington, D.C. but marches will be held across the nation in cities like Houston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Spokane, and foreign countries like Kenya, Russia and India.

The aquarium is one of more than 100 scientific groups that have endorsed the official march, joining as one of the first sponsors a year ago. "We unite as a diverse, nonpartisan group to call for science that upholds the common good, and for political leaders and policymakers to enact evidence-based policies in the public interest". The rally and march are meant to serve as "a physical and symbolic show of the movement toward a future where science serves all", says a press release from the organizing committee.

He accused the United States, France and Britain of "demonstrating a blatant disregard for global law". Russian Federation and Syria have denied using chemical weapons .

"They won't have the resources to get out there find true facts which have been processed, proven and backed up through the entire scientific method, forced entries and they won't have continually added knowledge", said Holly Roth, organizer. New Scientist said Congress' 2018 spending bill included more funding for research. Fear over what Donald Trump's administration might or might not do motivated many people to show up in 2017.

Scientists, academicians and professors were among the participants in the "March for Science" to promote scientific temper. "What we've seen is a huge uptick in people taking action in other ways - signing petitions, making calls, sending letters". They're raising awareness for the scientific community.
