Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen Ji-dan is set to headline Disney's live-action adaptation of Mulan, according to industry reports. Yen will be portraying Commander Tung, Mulan's mentor. When every family in the country is required to send one man into the army, a young woman named Mulan disguises herself in order to prevent her aged father from risking his life on the battlefield.

The new version of the animated Disney classic is due in 2020, with filming - which will include shoots in China and New Zealand - expected to kick off in August under director Nick Caro. Perhaps that will change in this telling?

Gong Li will be playing a slightly different villain to what fans might be expecting. A longtime muse of Zhang Yimou since her debut in 1988's Red Sorghum, she also has starred in his The Story of Qiu Ju (for which she won two best actress awards at Venice), Raise the Red Lantern, Curse of the Golden Flower and, most recently, 2014's Coming Home. The film will also feature a new character in the form of Mulan's sister. In addition, there will apparently be no musical numbers (despite the famed epicness of "I'll Make a Man Out of You").

Russian Federation to enforce nationwide ban on Telegram app
Life quality of 15 million Russians will get worse, as Telegram may become unavailable without a VPN from time to time. Other countries to have blocked the app or its services includes Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Bahrain.

Chinese actor Liu Yifei will play the title character in the project, Variety reported.

Jet Li is one of China's most beloved actors, having shot to fame in his homeland thanks to his martial arts franchises, such as "Shaolin Temple", and gaining global fame with his performance in "Lethal Weapon 4" (1998). While fans find the new story questionable, this cast will likely do a good job bringing it to life.
