Facebook Stories adds AR drawing and Boomerang

With the availability of the AR-based 3D drawing feature clear signifies that a major push is being given to the Stories and it is said to help increase the popularity of stories and drive user engagement. As per a report by TechCrunch, the company will soon roll out new elements to its Facebook Stories feature, including the ability to draw AR doodles on real-world images and videos, as well as the integration of the popular Boomerang feature from Instagram. "Stories" was first implemented in Snapchat, but has quickly been adopted by rivals Facebook and Instagram, which have launched their own Stories.

The AR technology should also be able to detect objects from surfaces.

According to John Barnett, Facebook camera product manager, "We wanted to give people an easy way to create with augmented reality and draw in the world around them".

For optimal effect, it only wraps drawings around objects if it is confident about the object that it has detected.

Now, the Stories section on Facebook is getting boost as the giant is going to add AR doodles and Boomerange GIFs to the stories. Facebook had its own version previously, which had the same effect as Boomerang, except it had some bugs.

The details of this feature are yet to be finalized and Instagram did not go into any detail at the moment.

If we talk about this particular Stories feature on Facebook, it has not been successful as Instagram or Snapchat.

However, that does not stop Facebook from trying at all.

The news comes after Instagram's parent company Facebook's Cambridge Analytica data scandal due to which Instagram earlier cut off the Application program interface (API) access for some developers and limited on how often others can use its API to collect data on Instagram users. Now there is also a new AR feature to help in the same. Yes, there are millions of Facebook users who are making use of this Facebook Stories on a daily basis.
