The body of 45-year-old Steven Pladl was found in minivan on a NY highway Thursday morning, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The man, 45-year-old Steven Pladl, and his daughter, 20-year-old Katie Pladl, had been arrested on incest charges, and the baby boy, who was found dead in a home in Knightdale, North Carolina, was their biological child, a lawyer for Steven Pladl said. 911 calls released earlier Thursday revealed the emotional moment Pladl's mom called police, saying her son killed his wife and newborn.

Alyssa said she had no idea about the sexual relationship between Steven and Katie until she read one of her other daughter's journals where she found drawings of a pregnant Katie.

A couple of neighbors on Earlston Court said they rarely saw Steven Pladl, and nobody noticed anything wrong Wednesday night.

"Due to the risky threat to the safety of the child, police set out a plan to rescue the girl and to arrest the male", said Captain Beetge.

Katie had been put up for adoption shortly after she was born, but made a decision to look up her birth parents on social media after she turned 18.

Stephen Pladl, Katie's biological father and Bennett Pladl's biological father and grandfather, was found dead in Dover, New York by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Capps said Steven Pladl had been living at the Knightdale residence where the boy was found dead, and that his mother had been living with the child in another home in the community while the incest case was pending trial in Virginia.

Katie and Fusco, 56, were found dead in a pickup truck, cops said.

The news station also reported that Steven and Katie Pladl married in Maryland and moved to North Carolina.

The caller then said Steven admitted to killing his wife and her father.

Katie was given up for adoption when she was a baby and got back in touch with her birth parents in June 2016.

Police spokesman Captain Andre Beetge told local media: 'At about 10.40am a 38-year-old man climbed onto the roof of one of the structures and held a one-year-old girl in his hands. The woman, who identified herself as Steven's mother, said the tragedy happened after his wife, who was also his daughter, broke up with him the day prior. After a brief reunion in June of 2016, Steven separated from Katie's biological mother, Alyssa, and began an incestuous affair with their daughter.

According to a 911 call Steven Pladl's mother made Thursday morning, Katie Pladl broke off her relationship with Steven Pladl over the phone on Wednesday, and he planned to take the child to her in NY.

In 1998, Katie Pladl was born to young parents who weren't ready to raise a child, and she was legally adopted by a family out of state, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. "We are all heartbroken", Pladl's attorney told CBS 17.

Steven Pladl's mother called 911 to conduct a welfare check on his Knightdale, N.C. home after having a disturbing conversation with her son, Knightdale Police Chief Lawrence Capps said. She said she believed Steven brainwashed and manipulated Katie.

Warrants say their child was born in September 2017.
