Manchester City have emerged the new Premier League champions after their city rivals, United, suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at home against West Brom on Sunday at Old Trafford.

West Brom drew 1-1 with Swansea in their first match after Pardew's departure, before stunning second-placed United and helping Manchester City secure the league title.

Their squad is crammed full of wonderfully potent performers such as Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, yet the Premier League table, which shows them 16 points behind City, does not lie.

Manchester United will be looking to make it six victories in a row in the Premier League, when they take on West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

West Brom remain nine points adrift of safety with just four games remaining and seem unlikely to stave off relegation, but caretaker boss Darren Moore was pleased with their efforts. Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling scored for City either side of an Ilkay Gundogan penalty as they bounced back in style from the disappointment of their Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Liverpool in midweek.

City's captain Vincent Kompany told Sky Sports: You can't describe the feeling. I'm not sure the man himself could quite believe it.

Pogba's sluggishness and unnecessary amount of touches were not why United lost the game; they were, instead, indicative of a wider problem for the attack.

"We did it in the way we wanted to do", Guardiola said at Wembley on Saturday.

While they missed out narrowly on that particular record, here are some of the best Opta numbers from City's special Premier League season.

"I trust in my work". I think with my experience you don't win titles with inconsistency.

West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez has been cleared of a charge of alleged racial abuse.

"Winning the Premier League is going to be one of the best three seasons I have ever had as a player and as a manager". As a result, we at the Hard Tackle predict a 2-0 win for the home team at Old Trafford this Sunday.

With a nod perhaps to next season, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger paired Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front and they combined for the goal, with Aubameyang clipping over a cross that Lacazette finished on the slide.
