National Weather Service confirms tornado in Texas County from Friday night's storms

Greensboro City Manager Jim Westmoreland on Sunday said he expects clean up to continue through Tuesday. They did not elaborate on the damages.

However, earlier in the week, Hays approached a record high.

The statement says emergency crews are conducting emergency checks in the areas affected and urged anyone needing immediate shelter to head to a local high school.

The National Weather Service on Saturday placed parts of San Diego County under a high wind watch beginning Sunday night. No serious injuries were reported in those storms. The ground stop was later lifted.

In North Carolina, the weather service office in Raleigh said Monday that a high-end EF-2 tornado hit Greensboro, carrying maximum winds of 135 miles per hour with a path that was at least 300 yards wide.

Enbridge spokesman Ryan Duffy tells The Detroit News that the Line 5 pipelines were temporarily shuttered Sunday afternoon due to a power outage at Enbridge's terminal in Superior, Wisconsin. Enbridge chose to shut down the twin pipelines until weather conditions improve in the Straits of Mackinac, which links Lake Huron and Lake Michigan, Duffy said.

Michigan's two US senators on Friday called for the pipelines' temporarily closure amid reports they may have been damaged by a ship anchor strike. This next system will again bring rain that will change to snow.

The St. Cloud area has gotten 62.7 inches of snow for the season, 17 inches above normal. Snow totals were upwards of a foot through south central South Dakota.

St. Cloud averages 45.7 inches of snow in the winter. The 3.7 inches of snow received in Mitchell Friday also broke the record for April 13 all-time, which was 2 inches received in 1905 and in 1970. The greatest amounts could impact northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota.

The Minnesota Twins postponed Sunday's home game against the Chicago White Sox, the third straight postponement of the four-game series.

On the bright side, the Minneapolis-St. No travel was advised throughout the area through Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
