It's not a surprise that a new BioShock game is in development considering the popularity of the series. We have yet to see a new game in the franchise hit the newer PS4 and Xbox One consoles thus far.

As Mafia III dev Hangar 13 struggles to nail down its next project, a neighboring studio within parent company 2K Games has reportedly started work on a new entry in the BioShock series.

Buried within a lengthy Kotaku story on the current less-than-ideal state of things at Mafia 3 developer Hangar 13 is an interesting tidbit about another 2K game you may have heard of. The remaining team members of Hangar 13 were kept in the dark on what the project entailed, until word slipped out it was a new BioShock title. "It was all very tight-lipped". The most recent installment was 2013's BioShock Infinite; a year after its release, lead BioShock studio Irrational Games was more or less shut down.

Cold front could bring severe weather Sunday
Keep in mind that this snow is extremely wet and heavy and will likely cause damage to tree limbs and possibly even power lines. The storm is also expected to have wind gusts of up to 75 miles per hour and will bring the threat of tornadoes.

Unfortunately for fans of the series, it still sounds like the game may be a ways away from launch.

"If anyone from Hangar 13 tried to strike up a conversation with them, they'd say, 'Oh, we can't really talk about it, '" a source close to the studio told Kotaku. According to the Kotaku story, the team has been struggling to find its next project since the release of Mafia III in 2016, resulting in a rough music game prototype and multiple rounds of layoffs. One person involved with it said "The issue is that Parkside's not ready for lots of people". Presumably that means Ken Levine won't be involved in the project, as he's now working on an original project at his new 2K-backed studio Ghost Story Games. "They're careful about not falling into the same problem every studio has, where they have too many people and nothing for them to do". There's a high probability this title is Borderlands 3, but BioShock also fits the bill.
