Now, it has introduced a feature that allows the user to download old media content again even if he/she deleted it from their phone. With media files received before 3 months, the feature doesn't seem to work as it user to request to the sender to send the media again in order to retrieve it. This feature rolled out incrementally to all users, Whatsapp is adding more features, functionality to Whatsapp payments with new updates.

Amid all the crisis of data protection across the globe, WhatsApp has launched another feature that increases the brand's liability to store personal user data more securely.

First reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp media dating back to three months could be downloaded again.

Interestingly, the new WhatsApp feature also means that the messenger stores user data on its servers even after the files have been downloaded. However, as per some sources, Whatsapp is now not allowing media files that are too old to be downloaded again. The undownloaded files were stored on WhatsApp server for 30 days and once it were downloaded, WhatsApp immediately deleted it from its folder. The only condition is that the message, which had the media attachment should not have been deleted by the sender, otherwise the download will not possible.

This is not the case anymore as the app lets you download deleted media from its servers with the latest update. On Android, if you have chosen to save WhatsApp media on the phone, it gets saved into a dedicated folder in the path (sdcard/WhatsApp/).

This new WhatsApp feature comes amid recent outrage over data leak by Facebook.

WhatsApp assures that with end-to-end encryption in place the data transferred between two users, who are on the latest versions of WhatsApp, are secured by unique secure code that only the two users can access. It has made a decision to store all the messages and multimedia content on its server even if it is downloaded by the user.
