Pacquiao responds to Roach situation: 'I have not made my final decision'

Things didn't look good after their last fight together - a defeat to Australian Jeff Horn - with Roach mentioning afterwards that he thought his fighter might be mad at him.

This when Pacquiao came in as a late substitute to sensationally knock out Ledwaba and dethroned him of his IBF super bantamweight crown to announce his arrival at the world stage and start a run with Roach that would be a benchmark for one of the longest trainer-boxer relationship.

Pacquiao takes on WBA welterweight champion Matthysse at Kuala Lumpur's Axiata Arena on July 14, with another three title fights on the undercard.

That is when Pacquiao made it official that he had fired Roach, doing so in the final sentence of a news release related to his upcoming fight with Lucas Matthysse and without contacting Roach directly.

"There was some concerns Manny had in the last fight and some statements Freddie made to the media that Manny wasn't very pleased about".

Under Roach Pacquiao scaled the boxing heights and is now the only boxer to win world titles in eight weight divisions. And Roach, for the first time since Pacquiao's 2001 United States debut, will not be in his corner.

He added: "My adviser, Mike Koncz, has been in contact with Freddie's people to keep them informed".

Weather forecast set to improve in 2018
Widespread rain and storms are looking more likely during this time, including over the drought-stricken western plains. No significant rainfall is expected, meaning more high fire danger and elevated pollen levels.

It is widely thought that 2018 will be the final time Manny Pacquiao steps into the pro boxing ring.

One of boxing's most successful partnerships is no more.

The Japanese side asked for the bout to be stopped one minute and 14 seconds into the ninth round.

Matthysse (39-4, 36 KOs), 35, a big puncher from Argentina who will be making his first title defense, and his promoter, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, are supposed to arrive in Manila next week for the media tour.

Matthysse said: "This is the fight I have always wanted".

Since then, Pacquiao has been heavily criticized for apparently ending a fruitful 16-year, 34-fight bond with Roach in a media announcement rather than he or anyone else on his team informing Roach of the decision.

Muhammad Ali fought and won over Joe Bugner in a rematch in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1975 winning by unanimous decision.
