A Hanover family is talking about a freakish crime that left a Florida woman dead after police said their family member was killed - and her identity was stolen - by a woman now wanted for killing her own husband.

Police say the incident happened at a home in the 100 block of Farris Court in Raleigh.

The two, seen together at a Fort Myers Beach restaurant, became friends.

With her platinum blonde hair and a cherubic smile, Lois Riess looks in photos like what she is - a 56-year-old grandmother from small-town America.

Dodge County deputies found David's body, with multiple gunshot wounds, after his business partner called police to say he had gone missing.

Authorities said Riess is considered armed and unsafe.

"We would like to speak with anyone who saw a man fitting the suspect's description in the woods just before the attack or who saw a man fleeing the scene afterwards".

Investigators said that surveillance video shows Riess at Hutchinson's condo and that after killing her, Riess took Hutchinson's credit cards and driver's license and stole her white Acura, which was spotted in Louisiana and Texas, according to police.

Border patrol agents are on the lookout for her and Hutchinson's family wants Riess apprehended quickly. Police believe the same firearm was used in the fatal shooting deaths of David Riess and Hutchinson.

The US Marshall's Office is now involved in the nationwide search "for this risky fugitive" who should be considered "armed and unsafe", Undersheriff Carmine Marceno of the Lee County Sheriff's Office said at a press conference.

NBC News reported Riess had a gambling addiction.

"She didn't say", a Wake magistrate said Monday afternoon. "Yet she is calculated, she's targeted and she's an absolute cold-blooded killer", he said.

Reiss took Hutchinson's vehicle, a white Acura TL with Florida license plate Y37TAA, and fled the state.
