Special counsel reportedly has evidence Trump lawyer Michael Cohen traveled to Prague

President Donald Trump and his lawyer Michael Cohen on Friday asked a California federal judge to stay a lawsuit filed by Stephanie Clifford, known as porn star Stormy Daniels, because the men believe it could implicate Cohen's Fifth Amendment rights amid a pending criminal investigation. Cohen, it seems, spent this glorious spring afternoon on a Manhattan sidewalk puffing a cigar with a bunch of his bros.

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided Cohen's NY office and home on Monday, partly based on a referral from Mueller. "Furthermore, public interest is best served by ensuring this action does not interfere with the criminal investigation".

Erica Orden, a political reporter for The Wall Street Journal broke the news via Twitter on Friday.

"It's kind of like when you're boyfriend breaks up with you and then you put pictures on Instagram looking really happy, having champagne", Kirsten Powers joked. It was not immediately clear on Friday what specific issues the court hearing would address.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are investigating whether any crimes were committed as part of an effort by Cohen to squelch damaging stories about Trump when he was a presidential candidate, according to a person familiar with the matter. Information deemed to be germane to the criminal investigation would not be protected by attorney-client privilege.

"The documents seized by the government are uniquely sensitive because they contain documents relating to privileged communications between the President of the United States and his personal lawyer", they wrote.

Cohen often recorded telephone conversations both before and during the 2016 presidential campaign that also could have been scooped up in the Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on his apartment, office and hotel room, sources told CNN.

If they can escape Las Vegas with a 1-1 series tie despite missing all of those pieces, it would be considered a huge win. I think it's B.S., really. "It's the playoffs, so if [the league doesn't] suspend him, it's understandable".

Cohen wants Wood to let them or a "special master" review the seized materials to decide what can be turned over, without violating the right of his clients to shield communications with their lawyers.

Lawyers for President Donald Trump and his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, have told a federal judge in NY that they believe some of the documents and devices seized from Cohen during an FBI raid are protected by attorney-client privilege, and they want a chance to review the material before prosecutors get to examine them.

The prosecutors assert that they have confidence that any seized material would not fall under the significant amount of attorney-client privilege that Cohen has claimed.

Meanwhile, Trump called Cohen on Friday to "check in", according to "two people briefed on the call". She argued that material obtained from Cohen had to be handled carefully because some could relate to a sitting president.

Another lawyer also sought to make his case during the later hearing: Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti. Among those recordings: conservations between Cohen and an attorney for two women who both received hush money to hide their alleged affairs with Donald Trump.

But, "depending on what else was discussed", the Times disclosed, "the call could be problematic, as lawyers typically advise their clients against discussing investigations".
