LOS ANGELES: Nikola Mirotic and Anthony Davis led the way as New Orleans dominated from start to finish in a 119-102 dismantling of the visiting Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, giving the Pelicans a 3-0 lead in a Western Conference first-round playoff series. "He's in a different mode". But New Orleans was excellent at forcing the ball out of his hands in other ways, too. And since Mirotic opted to display his full face for the first time in four years, the Pelicans' midseason acquisition has helped turn New Orleans into the NBA's hottest team at just the right time.

Al-Farouq Aminu wins tonight's player of the game with no competition. The first step will be getting some more efficient nights from Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, who were a combined 16-39 in Game 2.

"He can get to the basket against just about anybody that there is". If I have a shot, take a shot, so I need to give credit to my teammates.

The Trail Blazers trailed by 19 points, 64-45, at halftime and as many as 33 in the fourth quarter. Game 3, 9 P.M., NBA TV. Pelicans will look to sweep on Saturday evening at home.

"It feels great", said Davis after the win.

Now almost six years later, Davis had the opportunity to lead New Orleans to a 2-0 series lead over the Blazers, an outcome not many expected, especially since the Pelicans were playing on the road.

"Like you said, to not allow them to completely take me out of the game, you gotta make that play every time or you've gotta take a tough one [shot]". He has not been scratched, but his effectiveness remains to be seen.

Injury report: Blazers forward Maurice Harkless is doubtful for the start of the series after knee surgery.

The formal executive session of the heads of government meeting, themed around "Towards a Common Future', concluded last evening". He later shared pleasantries with President of Seychelles Danny Faure and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Keith Rowley.

Lillard said he expected more out of himself. "If not, it could be a quick series".

Game 1 saw a monster game from Anthony Davis.

"He knew what we were capable of", added Holiday when asked if he and others have spoken to Cousins about the Pelicans' 2-0 series lead against Portland.

Pelicans: Holiday had 12 points in the first quarter alone. "I'm not anxious about encores", Wade said. After Monday's loss, Embiid lobbied to get back in the lineup, writing on Instagram that he was "sick and exhausted of being babied".

"This is probably the first time where the big is just staying". In Game 2, it was Holiday (30 points). He did join the team for two road games in L.A., though.

On the season, the Pelicans are averaging 111.7 points, 44.0 rebounds and 26.8 assists per game. San Antonio was 4 for 28 on 3s in Game 2. We're confident that shots are going in.

KEEP AN EYE ON: The Warriors' Klay Thompson. He shot 8/15 from the field, 3/8 from three-pointer and kept Portland moving offensively when no one else would. Energy plays, 3-pointers in transition, three-pointers in the halfcourt.

Teams that led a best-of-seven series 3-0 in National Basketball Association history have won the series 127 out of 127 times. "The realistic thing is that we are not favorites", Ginobili said. "We arguably had one of our worst games of the year, so it was a bad combination". "Everybody's healthy and in a good place now so I think mentally he's in a good place".
