Sterling put in an impressive display as City breezed past Tottenham 3-1 at Wembley on Saturday in what turned out to be a Premier League title-clinching win following Manchester United's surprise defeat to West Brom on Sunday.

Manchester City this season has produced some of the most breathtaking soccer the Premier League has ever seen.

A week after City surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to United and squander the chance to wrap up the title in ideal style against their arch-rivals, it was relegation-bound West Brom who served it up on a plate.

The breakdown is this: with five games remaining, Guardiola's side need three wins to break Chelsea's 2004-05 points record of 95; four wins and a draw to become the first Premier League side to break 100 points; and 11 goals to break Chelsea's 2009-10 record of 103.

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry on Sky Sports: They deserve to be champions, I am sure they would have liked to do it against Swansea but now they can play against Swansea with a happier smile on their face because they all know they're champions and they deserve it.

City have won 14 games on the road this season and have two to go away from home - winning both of those would beat Chelsea's record of 15.

"My feeling is that United will win a lot of points because they are in a good shape and have top players".

They still have a seven-point buffer over Chelsea in the race for the Champions League and boss Mauricio Pochettino is content.

"The first time you think you are going to win all of them and the first time you lose it you think you are never going to win it again".

"I've never been able to retain the title so I want to see if this team has got it in them to carry on and be even more successful". It was always a matter of when rather than if City would be champions after they led the way for most of the season. "One of the things we have to improve is our consistency".

"He unlocks everything but when you think about it he did much, much better than last season and that was important".

Guardiola said in March that Mateo was "doing well" and, following confirmation of City's title triumph, Silva thanked fans on social media for their support during a "tough year", attaching a photo of himself holding his son.

"Playing in the Champions League at that age, sometimes it's complicated and maybe it's a good lesson for them for the future and for next season". It's good for the Premier League as well.
