Apple Maps is down; use Google Maps as a workaround

It appears that you can still load the map display, so if you want to hark back to the days before turn-by-turn directions were a thing, time to fire up that digital compass and get navigating. Apple is now investigating the issue, but there's no word on when we will see the Maps app fully functioning again.

In the interim, many advised users to download Google Maps or Waze for use on the iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Yeah, so this isn't good for Apple right now because a navigation app such as Apple Maps should work 24/7. But starting early this morning, Apple Maps has been broken in the sense that it isn't working at all. Essentially anything else but Apple Music would be a better solution to this directional problem. The outage has been acknowledged on Apple's status page as affecting both Maps Search and Routing & Navigation, and appears to be hitting users across many countries.

The company may soon launch Surface Pro 6 as the successor to Surface Pro 5 , along with a foldable device called Andromeda. According to WindowsCentral , that's about to change, as Microsoft is shooting for a late 2018 or early 2019 announcement.

There's no word on when Maps will be operational again, and Apple did not immediately respond for requests for comment.

Apple Maps is down and not working for users Friday.

UPDATE: June 15, 2018, 1:12 p.m. EDT Mashable successfully used Apple Maps on multiple devices, but the official website says it is still down.
