Maruti Suzuki Jimny is an example of it. All the official technical information about the vehicle will be revealed on July 5, when we will hopefully get a confirmation about whether there will be a new open-top version or not. There was a time when Maruti Suzuki Gypsy ruled the roost, but soon its competitors took over this bulky carrier passenger vehicle and the company lost its market share.

The much anticipated auto has already been launched in an event in Japan with following technical specifications and features.

Details for worldwide models are scarce at the moment, but we do know the Jimny will be offered in two bodies in the Japanese domestic market - the standard "Jimny" and the "Jimny Sierra".

But Merkel says Seehofer's unilateral measure would leave countries at the EU's southern periphery alone to deal with the influx. President Trump is pointing to Europe's massive migrant crisis as the reason open border policies do not work.

It is expected the Jimny will continue to offer genuine four-wheel drive capability with a traditional transfer-case transmission, class-leading ground clearance and entry/departure angles. The list of other goodies includes air conditioning, cruise control, push-button start, a multi-function steering wheel, and autonomous emergency braking.

It is pretty clear that there is a huge interest on the next-gen Jimny and this has been strengthened further today when a leak of the SUV without any camouflage surfaced online. The SUVs will be officially launched in July 2018 in Japan, following which they will be launched in many other global markets. However, we speculate that the new generation Jimny SUV is expected to be launched in India sometime next year.

The engine range hasn't yet been officially confirmed, but sources overseas report that the Jimny will be offered with 1.2 and 1.5-litre normally aspirated petrol engines, as well as Suzuki's "BoosterJet" 1-litre turbo triple. The wheelbase of newly launched is 2250 mm while that of Jeep Compass is 2636 mm, which means Jimny is best suited for city driving.
