PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile Surpasses 100 Million Downloads

Tencent and PUBG Corporation announced this week that the title has eclipsed 100 million downloadswithin 4 months (not including China, Japan and Korea).

Neither Tencent nor PUBG Corp. disclosed how much the game's mobile edition is bringing in from microtransactions. As the press release indicates too, PUBG became the "most-downloaded mobile game in more than 100 countries in its first week of availability, becoming one of the fastest games to reach this achievement to date".

PUBG short for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a military-style shooter battle royale game in which a total of 100 players drop onto a battleground, where they will have to fight till death and the last man standing will be declared the victor. When compared to the 3 million players all-time peak of the PC version, the success of PUBG Mobile is truly incredible. Recently, the developers held a Mission: Impossible crossover event along with the release of the movie which kept the hype machine of the game going.

Last month, PUBG Mobile was the No. 33 ranked mobile game by global player spending, up from No. 68 in June". Fortnite has been available on iOS for a while now, with beta invites for the Android version being sent out. At the time, app-tracking firm Apptopia predicted it would take 206 more days for PUBG to hit the milestone on just iOS, but the data was not taking the Google Play app store for Android into account.
