Both drinks contain Starbucks' cold brew as a base, so yes, these drinks will also give you that much-needed boost of caffeine.

The new nondairy beverages will be available while supplies last, according to a Starbucks press release. We can certainly hope so, as Starbucks said in the announcement of this new product that the launch was "inspired by our customers' love for Starbucks Cold Brew and a growing interest in plant-based proteins".

The new cacao-flavored Starbucks protein drink features cold brew, plant-based protein, cacao powder, coconut milk, Banana Date Fruit Blend and ice. With this new cold drink using a more "natural" alternative, consumers can feel less guilty about consuming this cold beverage. This drink has almond milk, cold brew coffee, the plant-based protein, a banana date fruit blend, and almond butter, all mixed with ice and blended.

"Plant-based beverages, plant-based proteins are a choice that many consumers are gravitating toward", CEO Kevin Johnson told investors in June. Cacao Protein Blended Cold Brew has 10 grams of plant-based protein. Almond Protein Blended Cold Brew is 270 calories and has 12 grams of plant-based protein.

Cold brew coffee joined the Starbucks family in 2015 and has been a favorite ever since.

Starbucks says it will also add more teas to its menu and plans on pivoting more toward the popular wellness trends a la Gwyneth Paltrow's goop and LA's Moon Juice.

If you think you've got a better recipe, pay a little extra to add a banana instead of the fruit blend, or have your barista add extra protein. More options for customizing these drinks can be found on the Starbucks website. Their newest announcement has not only cold brew lovers rejoicing, but vegans as well.
