Journalists too are required to have accreditation from Uganda Civil Aviation Authority without which they have been barred from the airport.

The Daily Monitor newspaper reported that police arrested him on the tarmac after he disembarked.

There is heavy deployment of security personnel from both Police and UPDF along Entebbe road as well as at the airport ahead of the return of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. National police chief Okoth Ochola, however, said he was taken to his home and was not under arrest.

The Kyadondo East MP has been in the U.S. for close to three weeks receiving specialised treatment for injuries he says he suffered from torture by security agents.

However, shortly after the police pronouncement, Mr Kyagulanyi, who was at the time at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, tweeted and posted on his Facebook page messages denouncing the directive.

To ensure their directeives were heeded to, the Police and army deployed in and around Kampala and Entebbe, including parts of Kasangati, Kamwokya and at his home in Magere.

Ex-Malaysian PM Najib to face further charges in 1MDB case
About 20 reporters waiting at the compound of the MACC building failed to catch Najib entering the premises. Najib, 65, is the first former prime minister in the country to have been indicted in a court of law.

Police also surrounded the home of Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago, and he was unable to leave, said another of the singer's lawyers, opposition legislator Medard Sseggona.

"We wish to thank him for cooperating with the police at Entebbe International Airport who provided him with transport, escort and a lead auto to his home". "Well, for your information, no single family member will receive me at the airport; this impunity must stop now", he wrote.

On Wednesday, police made it clear in a statement that they would transport the legislator to his home and arrest anybody who welcomed him at the airport or stayed by the roads to catch a glimpse of him. "I will then go and see my sick grandmother briefly at Najjanankumbi from where I will head to Kamwokya for lunch with my family (brothers and sisters) before I go to my home in Magere", he added.

Mr Kyagulanyi is facing treason charges over alleged stoning of President Yoweri Museveni's vehicle during a parliamentary by-election campaign in northwestern Arua Municipality.

The government denies allegations of corruption and of stifling opposition.

Bobi Wine, whose real name is Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, had sought treatment in the U.S. for injuries allegedly sustained during torture by members of the presidential guard, which Uganda's government denies.
