An MRI revealed Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a torn ACL Sunday and will miss the rest of the 2018 season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday, citing a source.

The 49ers signed Garoppolo last February to a five-year, $137.5 million contract that included a total of $74.1 million in injury guarantees over the life of the deal. Jimmy Garoppolo's season is over. He is set to earn an average of $27.5 million per season over the contract's full five-year term, ranking fourth in National Football League history.

Garoppolo's left knee buckled just before Kansas City cornerback Steven Nelson delivered a big hit, ending what was supposed to be his first full season as a starter after just three games.

Sirius to Acquire Pandora in $3.5 Billion Online Radio Deal
Following the completion of the transaction, there will be no immediate change in listener offerings, according to both companies. SiriusXM tested the waters with Pandora a year ago , spending $ 480 million to buy 19 percent of Pandora's stock.

Garoppolo had completed 59.6 percent of his passes with five TDs, three interceptions and an average of 8.1 yards per attempt for a 90 passer rating.

Backup C.J. Beathard, who started six games as a rookie past year, is expected to start the team's next game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The team had acquired him in a trade with the New England Patriots during the middle of last season for a second round pick.
