Xiaomi to launch Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC powered smartphone soon

As for Snapdragon 675, the latest mid-range chipset from Qualcomm sits just below Snapdragon 710.

On the gaming front, especially online gaming, the new chipset is capable of delivering the best experience on mid-range devices - thanks to the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem with support for up to 600Mbps LTE connectivity and tri-band, Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2x2 with MU-MIMO. Also, it can perform 15 percent faster with social media apps launch time, and 35 percent faster web browsing as per Qualcomm. Qualcomm also touts that the SD675 includes support for its Aqstic and aptX audio technologies. Two of these are Cortex A76-based performance cores clocked at 2GHz, whereas the remaining six are Cortex A55-based efficiency cores clocked at 1.7GHz. Fast forward just a few months and Qualcomm has now doubled up, launching the Snapdragon 675 at its 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong. The chip maker is working with game developers to produce "next-level" games for the Snapdragon 600 level chipsets.

In addition to the same old single-cam 25-megapixel still capture with zero shutter lag (30 fps), this Spectra 250L has gained a 48-megapixel snapshot mode to please manufacturers who want to offer something bolder. The new chipset supports a triple camera configuration in the front or back and can support numerous popular camera features of smartphones today, including enhanced portrait mode, 3D face unlock, wide angle, super wide angle, and telephoto up to 5x optical zoom.

Qualcomm is calling out the AI improvements of the SD675 as well. HD slo-motion recording and playback is offered at 480fps.

AI: Snapdragon 675 will deliver up to 50% overall improvements in AI applications. Qualcomm says that the chip helps mobile devices capture information through "photos and videos, learning and adapting to a user's voice, and optimizing battery life". Xiaomi Global VP and Managing Director Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain made the announcement about a Snapdragon 675-powered smartphone to be launched soon, but failed to mention the exact timeline of the release. The platform is already available to OEMs and will arrive in consumer devices in early 2019.
