France's players are due back in the country ahead of the Nations League clash with Netherlands on November 16 and friendly with Uruguay four days later.

"I never gave up", he told MUFC.

The Frenchman fell out of favour with Mourinho in the second half of last season and missed making the World Cup squad that eventually won France the tournament in the summer.

"I knew that for him to become a really top player, he needed to overcome some barriers that I put on the road for him".

And speaking on Martial's U-turn at the club, Mourinho has revealed he set a hard path for his player in order for him to realise his "phenomenal talent".

Deschamps said in a press conference: "Anthony has played for a while in the France team and has also experienced some hard times".

You have to defend deep and well, defend crosses well because they are so strong and better than us at set-pieces. Yet they have also fallen into the habit of going behind in matches.

United are rumoured to be readying a new £58m five-year contract for the 22-year-old following his inspired turnaround at the club.

"It's been a while since he's been in the French team, with good periods and more hard periods", said coach Didier Deschamps of Martial's return to the worldwide fold.

"What he's now achieving with Manchester United is closer to what he's able to do regularly". I'm talking about commitment and efficiency in front of goal.

"Anthony is a young player who is in the process of acquiring, I hope, a certain level of maturity - his potential is incredible".

Martial's days at Old Trafford seemed numbered after he was criticised by Jose Mourinho and fined by the club for taking an extended leave of absence from United's summer training camp in the United States, due to the birth of his child.

Martial has six goals in 13 games in all competitions this season and could add to his 18 France appearances when Deschamps' men meet Netherlands and Uruguay later this month.
