He explained: "She is a leading figure in the broadcasting industry, a proven business executive and a great developer of people".

The Premier League has chose to split Scudamore's role with Dinnage taking over as chief executive.

The collapse of the FA's proposed sale of Wembley to Shahid Khan and with it a £600m windfall for the country's dilapidated grassroots facilities, put renewed focus on whether the Premier League should contribute more of its vast wealth to the hard-up amateur game, where many matches are cancelled each winter because of the state of grass pitches and a lack of 3G alternatives. She started her career at MTV Networks and spent the last decade at Discovery.

"It represents the pinnacle of professional sport and the opportunity to lead such a dynamic and inspirational organization is a great privilege", Dinnage said. "She is ideally suited to the role and we are confident she will be able to take the Premier League on to new heights".

'With the support of clubs and the team, I look forward to extending the success of the League for many years to come'.

Dinnage's move is a surprise, coming not long after she was upped to become the first-ever global boss at Animal Planet.

LG Xavier Su'a-Filo had a solid game filling in for injured rookie Connor Williams, who had arthroscopic knee surgery last week. Prescott was 26 of 36 for 270 yards, while Elliott rushed 19 times for 151 yards.

But you - yes you - can make that transition a little easier for little Richard, especially if you are the chief executive of a Premier League club.

Richard Scudamore departs as the man who presided, for nearly two decades, over an extraordinary financial boom but a significant, largely unseen part of the challenge has been maintaining a collective, particularly at a time when the "big six" have been increasingly stroppy about increasing their slice of the cake.

The most recent domestic live TV deal suffered a significant dip in value however, and amid changing audience habits, the rise of social media and online viewing, and new digital challengers to the established duopoly of Sky and BT, brokering new partnerships with media organisations could be her number one priority.

She narrowly missed out on landing the top job at Channel 4 a year ago, and is now the global president for Animal Planet, having previously worked as president for Discovery Networks UK and Ireland.

Speaking about his decision to relinquish his position in June, Scudamore cited a desire to spend more time with his family and watch more of his childhood club Bristol City. "Football is an intoxicating environment and therefore hard to give up being so involved, but my passion for what football means to so many and the positive impact it can make will never diminish".
