Prima Games first began publishing strategy guides as an imprint of Dorling Kindersley in 1990, 28 years ago.

Reported initially on EGM Now, the news was confirmed by the Dorling Kindersley division of Penguin Random House.

DK CEO Ian Hudson released an internal memo making the announcement, according to a report from Publishers Weekly.

As it stands, Prima Games will no longer be working on any new material, with staff now working on the completion of all projects that have already been commissioned. Roseville will be closing very soon, in mid-November, Indianapolis will have a small selection of staff stay on until March 2019, and the NY office's fate is now unknown. After this, Prima Games will cease to exist. However, the Roseville office will close much earlier than its counterparts in NY and Indianapolis; at some point in mid-November of this year.

Prima Games' guides offered long-form in-depth guides for just about any and every videogame you can think of. The issue is, games update regularly these days, meaning it is impossible to keep track of all the changes a game may see in a printed guide.

Longstanding video game strategy guide publisher Prima Games is set to close shop by early 2019.

Prima Games will close down fully by Spring 2019.
