Aston Martin Has Made A Reversible Electric Powertrain For Classics

The powertrain requires a small screen for power management, which Aston says is "discreetly" located inside the auto. Certainly Aston Martin's target audience is the same: classic vehicle owners keen to keep their pride and joy running when the curtain finally drops on anything (or anything much) powered by petrol.

The very first vehicle to received this treatment is a 1970 Aston Martin DB6 MKII Volante, which was built by hand almost 50 years ago at Aston's old Newport Pagnell factory.

The Aston Martin is allowing owners to refit their classics, with with a "package" that makes it electric.

Billed as the world's first reversible electric powertrain conversion, Aston Martin's new initiative arrives in the face of environmental pressures and ever-stringent regulations regarding the use of combustion-engined cars.

The self-contained battery cell sits on the original engine and gearbox's mounts and is reversible, meaning the modifications can be taken back out should the owner want.

Let's make Joshua-Fury fight happen, Warren tells Hearn
He don't have to worry about me moving past him, and I hope he don't have to go fight no one else. Wilder also said that despite the draw verdict, considers himself the victor in the first fight.

The "cassette" EV powertrain underneath has apparently been developed using experience gleaned from Gaydon's final phase development of the Rapide E (not to mention the all-new range of Lagondas that loom large on Aston's horizon).

Umbilical cords from the power unit feed electrical systems in the auto. When went on to say "Our Second Century Plan not only encompasses our new and future models, but also protects our treasured heritage".

Aston's conversion offers classic motoring with a social conscience.

"We have been looking for some time to find a way of protecting our customers' long-term enjoyment of their cars", Spires said. The first are slated to begin in 2019. While there was no official word on the costs involved, we would confidently predict it to be a number with LOTS of zeros in it.
