Madrid have always been interested in Hazard with club president Florentino Perez a big admirer of the 24-year-old.

Reports from Spain claimed on Wednesday that the La Liga giants are ready to make a move for Hazard whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of next season.

The City captain told reporters ahead of a Premier League clash with Chelsea on Saturday: "I think he was due an offensive manager". The Belgium worldwide has found back of the net 10 times for both dethroned Premier League Champions and country by the start of October but the 27-year-old forward has failed to score for the Blues and World Cup third place in his last 11 matches.

Having lost Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus last summer, Madrid have been crying out for someone to take the former number seven's mantel, having seen both Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale become inconsistent.

Telemadrid write that Mateo Kovacic (who is now on loan at the Blues) or Marco Asensio will be used in a player plus cash deal in order pry Hazard from Stamford Bridge.

According to the latest news, Blues fans will be glad to hear that manager Maurizio Sarri has stated that Chelsea is preparing to offer a bumper new contract for club talisman Eden Hazard immediately.

Madrid are not willing to accept a cut-price fee for the 24-year-old, though, having paid £26.7m to sign him from Inter Milan in 2015. He said I'm so good and I am agreeing with him.

Hazard is about to enter the final 18 months on his contract at Stamford Bridge and is no closer to penning an extension.

He added: "Chelsea is one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League this year".
