Reports of active shooter at UPS in Logan Township

The women, both UPS employees, were not seriously injured during the hours-long standoff, Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles Fiore said at a news conference.

According to NBC New York, a man entered the UPS sorting facility and fired shots into the ceiling before taking his ex-girlfriend and another person hostage.

The incident began around 9:20 a.m. Monday on Birchcreek Road.

State and local law enforcement agencies are on the scene, including the New Jersey State Police and SWAT units.

The women had not been harmed, he said, but details of the hostage situation were not clear as the three were barricaded in a room at the facility.

Police swarmed the area in the morning and evacuated employees.

"UPS is working with law enforcement as they respond to an active shooter situation at one of the company's supply chain processing facilities in Logan Township, New Jersey", UPS said in a statement.

Armed officers can be seen crouching behind one of the vehicles.

Schools in the area were put on a modified lockdown.

"All staff and students are SAFE!" the school district said.
