Lampard cools talk over Chelsea job

Maurizio Sarri on Sunday admitted his job as Chelsea manager is at risk after Manchester City scored four times inside the first 25 minutes to trash his side 6-0. Just 11 days previously, an embarrassing 4-0 loss at Bournemouth had set the bar at a new low in the Roman Abramovich era.

But Chelsea are still only a point away from Champions League qualification and Sarri, 60, has steered them to the Carabao Cup final, where they will play City, again, at Wembley in two weeks. It appears as though his future will be decided once-and-for-all over this period, even if the club will hesitate to take action until the end of the ongoing campaign.

They sit sixth in the table, with yesterday's hammering seeing them drop below Arsenal on goal difference.

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has insisted the Europa League clash against Malmo is the ideal opportunity for the Blues to conjure a reaction after a heavy defeat at Manchester City. This is a brutal schedule for any club, and the fact that each game matters as much as it does will put a lot of stress and wear and tear on the City lineup regulars.

Leeds United's Jack Clarke on mend after illness scare
The club will be hoping that Clarke makes a speedy recovery and returns to action soon so that they can continue their title push. Another said: "Horrible to see even worse to witness and be the person involved".

I have nothing against Jorginho, I think he is a lovely player.

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva insisted his team could not rely on rivals Manchester United doing them a favour in the Premier League title race.

Their next four games are all in cup competitions, in which they will also face Malmo in the Europa League and Manchester United in the FA Cup, giving Chelsea three shots at glory this campaign.

"Kante is wasted anywhere other than as arguably the world's finest holding midfielder", wrote the BBC's Phil McNulty. It's very frustrating, it's very disappointing. I'm far from being convinced about Jorginho on both things that I've said.
