OnePlus to show off its 5G smartphone at MWC

Today the Chinese company confirmed that its MWC event is directly related with the 5G OnePlus handset. According to Engadget we can expect a 5G smartphone demo to take place at the tradeshow.

The words noted in the media invite hints that the OnePlus 5G phone may be targeted to the gamers out there or mostly the power users.

OnePlus is well known for offering high-end specs at lower prices than the competition. No, the company isn't launching the OnePlus 7 or the OnePlus 7T. So this could be a lot of people's only chance to early adopt the super high-speeds of 5G in 2019. Furthermore, the company mentions that those attending to the event will be able to get a taste of 5G gaming Experience through one of its latest "OnePlus Prototype with 5G".

OnePlus has been playing with teasers for its first 5G smartphone for quite some time. Also, being one of the first to market with a 5G phone is not about bragging rights, but about allowing it to learn and iterate for future products. However, OnePlus' close partnership with Qualcomm means the Snapdragon 855 will be included on the inside along with the Snapdragon X50 modem which will grant 5G capabilities.

OnePlus says that MWC visitors will be invited to "communicate with [their] community over a 5G network", though it's not clear what that entails.
