Man Utd could have Champions League fixtures reversed

The second legs of the eight round of 16 encounters were fairly interesting with Porto, Juventus, Ajax and Manchester United coming back from first leg losses. However, Tottenham were outclassed by Real Madrid at the Bernabeu (4-0) in the first-leg of the quarter-finals, then lost 1-0 back in London.

"My second choice would be not by tactical or emotional reasons but by what I think would be fantastic extra motivation I would do Ajax versus Porto, as that would mean one of them to reach the semi-finals", he added.

We'll start off with Liverpool, who made it a clean sweep of four Premier League clubs into the quarter-finals after Jurgen Klopp's men inflicted a 3-1 defeat upon Bayern Munich.

Most people have already taken these claims with a pinch of salt, but it is not surprising that many fans are convinced the fixtures for the last eight are real. Not since Bayern's Wembley win against Dortmund in 2013 has a Champions League been won without one of them in the victorious team and there has been no sign of either of them slowing up in this season's competition.

"It would be awesome for Portugal as a country, Netherlands as a country, to have a team in the semi-final".

United's unexpected victory over PSG also ensures that they will be regarded as a unsafe outsider in Friday's draw, but while it's inevitable that the focus will be on the prospect of a first English Champions League victor this season since Chelsea in 2012, it would be wise to consider the threat posed by Messi and Ronaldo, with Barca and Juve respectively, to Premier League ambitions.

The Old Lady managed to overturn a two-goal deficit from the first leg against Atletico Madrid to qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament. Barcelona against Juventus in a possible final or semi-final.

But Mourinho admitted that the prospect of a Barcelona versus Juventus quarterfinal tie - and a mouthwatering match-up of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo - would deprive the competition of what would be a special semi-final or final later down the line.

Former Espanyol coach Mauricio Pochettino would relish the opportunity to face his former club's fierce opponents and to try to eliminate them from the tournament.
