Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign has apologized for comments online questioning whether American Jews held a "dual allegiance" with Israel.

In a Facebook post discussing Sanders' support for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who has been criticized by Democrats and Republicans alike in recent weeks over similar remarks interpreted as anti-Semitic, Sisa questioned whether the US government and American Jews have "a dual allegiance to the state of Israel?"

"In a conversation on Facebook, I used some language that I see now was insensitive", Belén Sisa, Sanders' incoming deputy press secretary for Latino outreach, said in a statement.

Bee attempted to defend Omar by noting that she did apologize when enough pressure was put upon her, which was immediately undone by the fact that Omar later spoke about how the Israel lobby forces Jews to have "dual loyalty".

After a series of controversial statements and gaffes from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), some Democrats are already plotting and planning in order to get rid of her and limit the damage she's doing to their party.

Omar has been under fire over recent comments suggesting Jewish organizations pay United States politicians to support Israel, which many viewed as anti-Semitic.

A man in his 20s has been charged with murder and will soon appear in court, according New Zealand's police commissioner. The video footage showed a man driving to the mosque, entering it and shooting randomly at people present inside.

"When I talk about places like Saudi Arabia or Israel or even now with Venezuela, I'm not criticizing the people", Omar said in a recent appearance on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah."

Last week, the House passed a bipartisan resolution condemning hate speech in the wake of Omar's comments.

Is controversy over Rep. Ilhan Omar threatening Democratic unity?

Omar has provoked accusations of anti-Semitism against her with her chiding of Israel, suggesting at one point that it had "hypnotized the world" and prayed that Allah would "awaken" it.

"Democratic leadership failed to primarily and directly address Representative Omar's anti-Semitic remarks in a resolution that should have been specifically about anti-Semitism so as to address the rising threat thereof", the resolution reads in part.

"Omar should be censured and, beyond that, removed from the powerful and influential House Foreign Affairs Committee that Speaker Pelosi surprisingly granted to this first-year legislator", said Rabbi Spero of the National Conference of Jewish Affairs.
