It was Woods' 15th major championship, but his first overall since winning the U.S. Open in 2008 and his first Masters win since 2005. Woods' win on Sunday was his 15th major victory, three short of the standard set by Nicklaus.

Woods' combined score of 205 through three rounds at Augusta ties that same score he shot in 2002 and 205 - both Tiger wins.

The win capped a stunning professional comeback for Woods, who has faced crippling back and leg injuries that led to multiple surgeries and almost ended his professional golf career. "But then again the last two majors counts for something". "And, you know, the next two majors are at Bethpage, where he's won [2002 U.S. Open], and Pebble Beach, where he's won [2000 U.S. Open]". Tiger Woods of the USA celebrates with with his green jacket after winning the 2019 Masters.

"I had serious doubts after what transpired a couple years ago", said Woods. I couldn't sit. Couldn't lay down.

Masters 2019: Zach Johnson draws laughs from Ian Poulter and Matt Kuchar
Ultimately, Johnson did not need to take a penalty stroke because he had not meant to hit the ball and it was not yet in play. So Johnson re-teed and found the fairway. "I actually hit a really good tee shot after that, so I think I recovered nicely".

"To have the opportunity to come back like this it is probably one of the biggest wins I've ever had for sure because of it".

"I feel good and I like my chances tomorrow". "So I enjoy it, it's fun, getting definitely more comfortable with it as every major goes by".

All eyes were on overnight leader Francesco Molinari, who led by two shots, Woods and the weather when play began on Sunday as the race for the Green Jacket turned into a final sprint with the forecast predicting rain and thunderstorms.

Ditto for fellow athletes - and champions in their own right - Tom Brady, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Abby Wambach and Serena Williams, several of whom became emotional when Woods sealed the deal.
