Unai Emery sought advice from Javi Gracia before taking Arsenal job

Watford head coach Javi Gracia said the club has spoken to players about racist abuse, offering support after players were targeted on social media.

"I also met with (Manchester City midfielder) David Silva in Valencia past year and he said to me, "Coach, if you can, come to England, it is the best football and the best atmosphere for you also". We spoke about football here, English football and their experience because they were here six months before us. I don't understand that decision.

"I try to be polite and respectful, but that's all we can do".

Arsenal moved into the Premier League top four, but made hard work of seeing off 10-man Watford 1-0 thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's fortunate early opener on Monday.

Some may question what is the point about writing about a player rumoured to be wanted by Arsenal but very unlikely to sign for us but we can not ignore this particular rumour, not when it involves a Tottenham player.

ESPN's Malika Andrews was the first to report the news with coach Dwane Casey explaining his knee was "too sore". It is unclear if he will require any sort of procedure in the off-season.

"We don't have one final, we have seven finals left to play".

"I am very proud of my players", he said.

Soon after, Watford skipper Troy Deeney was shown a straight red card, compounding their misery and giving them a mountain to climb all game.

Let's be realistic, as things stand right now we cannot offer Alderweireld wages above what Spurs could offer him, we cannot guarantee him success any more than what Tottenham can, we cannot even guarantee Champions League football right now. I think it was very important in this position with one more player on the pitch to break the lines and attack the last third better with our players, and in the second half we didn't score a goal with good chances. "It will be an important game and a good challenge for us".
