Barr says Pelosi's charge that he lied to Congress is 'laughable'

In a conversation with Fox News' Bill Hemmer on "America's Newsroom", Barr suggested that he wanted to get to the bottom of whether "government officials abused their power and put their thumb on the scale" during the Russian Federation investigation.

After attending a Trump law enforcement speech in the Capitol - where he encountered Pelosi - Barr flew to El Salvador for meetings on some of Trump's biggest talking points: the MS-13 street gang and illegal immigration.

After Mueller submitted his report to Barr in March, the attorney general released a four-page summary letter to Congress. Barr's letter framed the debate about the probe over the next few weeks and, White House officials believe, allowed Trump to declare victory before the release of the full report, the contents of which are far more ambiguous. "We now know that was simply false", Barr said.

One complicating factor in the negotiations, according to people familiar with the talks, is Mueller's unwillingness to enter the political fray over his findings.

In another tweet, he pointed to a new Fox News poll that found 58 percent of Americans believe it's at least somewhat likely that the Federal Bureau of Investigation broke the law in investigating his campaign.

"But he was not going back and looking at the counterintelligence program. And we have a number of investigations underway that touch upon it", Barr said.

SpaceX to launch first satellites for Musk's Starlink internet service
That's a staggering figure - more than twice the total number of operational satellites that were in orbit in January 2015. Elon Musk's SpaceX has made a business out of launching satellites for commercial customers, NASA and the USA military.

Stefan Halper, a retired professor who has links to the Central Intelligence Agency and MI6, met with Carter Page, a volunteer adviser to Trump's presidential campaign in mid-2016, staying in touch for months afterward trying to glean information.

"My Campaign for President was conclusively spied on".

In the Fox interview, Barr said "some very unusual developments" took place during the period between Election Day and Inauguration Day, including a January 2017 briefing that intelligence officials gave the president at Trump Tower. After his name hit the press, journalists covering the Spygate scandal quickly realized that Durham was the prosecutor investigating former FBI lawyer James Baker for potential illegal leaks.

The Senate Judiciary Committee's questioning of Barr also revealed several other areas of concern to the attorney general, including "the FISA warrant process", "the investigation and how and why it was opened", and the "lack of professionalism in the [Clinton] email investigation"-all things Barr says needed to be looked at".

"And from the standpoint of protecting the American people, it's imperative", Barr said.

"I've been trying to get answers to the questions, and I've found that a lot of the answers have been inadequate and some of the explanations I've gotten don't hang together, in a sense I have more questions today than I did when I first started", he said. "I'm not sure what role it played", Barr told Hemmer. "But the question is whether it was adequately predicated and I'm not suggesting it wasn't adequately predicated, but I need to explore that".
