Former WWE star Ashley Massaro has died

Massaro, who worked for WWE from 2005 until 2008, passed away on Thursday at the age of 39.

The cause of Massaro's death has yet to be determined, but Suffolk County police released a statement Friday morning which said the Long Island native's death was "noncriminal".

Ashley joined the WWE in 2005 after winning its Raw Diva Search.

Massaro's career in WWE is far more notable for revelations that emerged after she parted ways with the company, including allegations that she was sexually assaulted during a company trip to a United States military base in Kuwait.

On Thursday, WWE announced that Massaro passed away.

Massaro, who has an 18-year-old daughter, also appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine during her career.

Martinez also contacted PWInsider to say that she has not issued any public statement regarding Massaro's cause of death.

Mick Foley wrote: "This is just terrible news - Ashley Massaro is gone".

"Gonna be bumping around the ring starting next week. super pumped n ready to see what I got left in these ole boots of mine!"

WWE confirmed the news and expressed their condolences for the New Yorker's family and friends. She was only 39. We did countless photo shoots and press days together. She was always so nice.and now she's gone. "I love you mommy I wanted to make up in your arms more than anything I want to give u a big hug please come back this can't be real".

Massaro died en route to the hospital as emergency crews performed life-resuscitating measures on her to no avail.

"I can confirm that she has passed and has died and that she was 39 and that she was from Smithtown but I cannot confirm any other details because we don't have them", said the Public Information Officer for the department.
